Memory lost

Memory Loss!

“Otavio, wake up”!
That was the last thing I wanted to hear. It was a cold, frosty ngahuru morning. I woke up super late at 8.15am. As I was having breakfast at home when I saw the book I was reading, “Percy Jackson And The Battle Of The Labyrinth” by Rick Riordan. I went up to my room to begin my daily reading sessions. While I waited for my Incredibly boring little brother ( AKA The Annoying one.) to get ready I wasn’t aware of the time. While he was getting ready, my classmates were getting ready for an adventurous hikoi.

I can’t believe I forgot about the walk. I was talking about the walk throughout the whole week and I forgot about it. I really wanted to go but I forgot. That was super surprising. I mean I am known to lose things and forget things but something that big? I don’t believe it. I guess that just shows you that when you read you enter the abyss of reading. You feel like you are in a different realm when you read.

I shot out the door with Nehemiah trailing behind me. I didn’t want to get late to school. When I arrived at the massive, slamming gates of the school. I looked around looking for classmates but I saw none. That’s when It struck me! I forget about the walk. With a devastating “NO!”. I ran to my class having a little bit of hope that they were still there but no.

The next thing I had to do was be brave. I still dream about it. I entered the dark halls of the office where I had to enter the horrible room, the room everyone fears. The principal’s office. I entered slowly, shivering in fear. I shook my fear aside and strided in being a man but inside I was as scared as a little boy under his bed covers, hiding from a monster. Ms T was on the phone having a deep conversation with someone. My fellow classmate Ezra was sitting on the couch. My palms were getting sweaty. It wasn’t because of the office but because Ms Kemp. you couldn’t pay me to face the wrath of Ms Kemp. I knew it was over. I have lost all hope.

“Otavio, have you forgotten about the tramp?” Ms T asked me. Now I was shivering in fear like a dog covered in water. At this point I was asking myself why did I go to school But I had to be a man. I sighed and explained my situation to Ms T. She looked at me like she was about to snap at me like a crocodile getting ready to snap at an antelope.
“ You can stay in ruma kotare for the rest of your day”. She snarled at me.
“Yes Ms T” I said. I sprinted through the eerie halls of the office with one thought in mind, run. I was determined to escape. Nearly smacking into the door that leads into ruma kotare. I stopped with a halt to take a deep breath. I made it I escaped the office. Its jaws nearly closed in on me.
I sighed with relief.

As I conclude my story about the day I forget about the walk. I wasn’t able to go on this fantastic haerenga. I also had an incredibly scary day. Next time I will not forget I can promise you that. Okay maybe I can’t promise you that. Overall I still had an exciting day but could have an even more exciting day if I went to the tramp. Man, I am devastated that couldn’t go.

Building A Pataka!

Hi everyone. During the 5th week of the 1st term Me and assigned buddy Caius  were assigned to build a pataka using materials  such as sticks.  A pataka is Maori house where the tribe puts their food in. The reason why the Maori built the pataka is because of the rat. Rats would rush into house food pantries and eat everything that was there. A Pataka is built above the ground with 1-6 sticks holding it up. It has a hole the bottom so the people of the tribe can peek their head through and take some food out. During my expedition to complete my pataka I found how I was going to build it was quite challenging. Something that I enjoyed was building the pataka. I have taken shot of my pataka. I have also made a Google drawing to show my knowledge about the pataka.
